Anadolu’ya Türkler tarafından getirilen tarhana, Kahramanmaraş’ta yöresine özgü farklı bir yöntemle hazırlanır. Tarhana yapımında öncelikle buğday, taş değirmende dövülerek, kabuğu kavlatılır ve “yarma” ya da “dövme” haline getirilir. Daha sonra dövme yıkanır ve pişirilir. Pişen dövmeye köy yoğurdu ve dağ kekiği katılarak tatlandırılır.
